This week, we have been using the internet to research pre-historic beasts, particularly…the mammoth! We found out all sorts of interesting facts.

In English, we have been preparing to write an informal diary entry, written by Stone Age Boy.

In Maths, we have moved on to addition and subtraction and are learning how to formally add and subtract numbers. See pictures below:

What another fabulous week in Year 3!

This week, we have been learning all about what people ate during The Stone Age. We have been learning about the animals that they hunted and the food that they gathered during different seasons of the year.

In Maths, we have been completing our place value topic and next week, we will be using the knowledge that we have gained to tackle addition and subtraction.

In Science, we have been investigating rocks and completing an experiment to see which type of rock is the hardest/ softest. See pictures below:

In English, some of us have been transforming our stories from last week into the third person, which we have been able to do really well! Some of us have been writing the story ending from last week’s writing and Miss Harrison is very proud of the progress we have made in just a week. Well done Year 3!

27th September 2019

What an amazing start to Year 3! The children have worked so hard over the past few weeks and Miss Hails and I are very proud of them.

Over the last few weeks, Year 3 have been extremely busy designing their new classroom and what a fantastic job they have done! Our new topic ‘Tribal Tales’ is well underway and the children have completed some amazing work and homework projects linked with this topic. Please see some pictures below:

In Science, we have been testing the properties of different biscuits and sweets and linking them with real rocks. Of course, we also had to try the biscuits too!

In Maths, the children have wowed me with their problem solving skills linked with place value. Their knowledge of 3 digit numbers continues to improve with each passing day. Well done Year 3!

In English, we have been writing stories linked with our topic. Some of them are now displayed in our classroom because they were SO impressive!
